about

Tom Busby’s is associated with the late New York piper Tom Busby. A variant of this jig was also played and recorded by Willie Clancy. Return to Burton Road is a Richard Dwyer composition. Some recorded versions order the tune parts differently from the composer’s own rendition, as is the case here. Treasa learned this version from Donncha Ó Briain, and it appears within the Golden Eagle tunebook, vol 2, as “Jig 5.” I Was Born for Sport appears in Petrie and was another of the tunes collected from Patrick Coneely in 1845.
